Blue Ribbon awards at the Amador County Fair

PLYMOUTH, CA. Walking around the Amador County Fair, you hear a lot of “If I could of entered my project in the Fair, I would of won a Blue Ribbon. I should of done that.” This year the time has come to take a look at your best jam, that perfect photo, or the quilt that is almost finished, and get your entry form turned in.

The 2013 Amador County Fair Exhibitor Handbook is now available at the Fair office, on their website, and various locations in the county, including libraries. The publication is a complete guide to the competitions for everything from preserves to quilts, art to animals, gardens—even rocks and gems.  No matter what your personal hobbies or talents, there is likely to be a category that fits, and there is nothing like bringing home the bragging rights of a ribbon won at the County Fair.

In the continuing effort to make entering exhibits in the Amador County Fair (July 25 – 28) as easy as possible, the Fair office will now be able to take entries on-line through their website, www.amadorcountyfair.com. Not only is it an easy way for people who have busy lives and access to computers and the internet to quickly file their entry forms, it will also help the Fair’s efforts to be environmentally friendly.

The handbook is available broken down into small categories so that someone who just wants to enter their baked goods can view or print out that section. Exhibitors can enter their information, pay their entry fees and print a record of their transactions on their printer.

Call the Entry Office at 209-245-6921 for  your best source of information about participating in the Fair’s competition. They can decipher the language of premiums, divisions, classes, and sweepstakes, how to fill out an entry form and more. As always the Fair will accept entries via the postal service.

The last day to file most exhibit entry forms is Saturday, July 6 at 6:00 pm; however there are some exceptions.  Feature Exhibits and Garden forms are due May 24. Home Brew entry forms and beer are accepted until June 28, 4:00 pm. Commercial Brew entry forms and beer close July 5. Horse Show entry forms are due Friday, June 28, 6:00 pm.   Junior and Senior livestock entry forms are due Monday, July 6 by 6:00 pm.

Even though entry forms are due in early July in order to plan exhibit space, most actual exhibits are not due until closer to the Fair. A complete schedule of due dates, judging and release dates can be found online at www.AmadorCountyFair.com and is included in the Handbook.

The Amador County Fair is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, which will be a recurring element in the various contests.  Watch for more fun on-the-spot contests that will be held during the Fair.  For more information call the Fair office at 209 245-6921.
